Muddy & cold

Kimbie called with tales of yesterday's mud adventure. First they hiked up a trail in the fog and mist, and were already a little chilly when they got to the mud pit. When they jumped in and got all muddy, it was even colder, but a lot of fun. Then they ran a mile and a half back to a clear stream (also cold) where they rinsed off. This morning when she called they had checked out of their cabins at Kokee State Park and had driven to Poipu beach. It had been raining the whole way but fortunately Kimbie's luggage was inside the van this time. The rain had stopped but it was still a little cloudy. Jordan had rented a surfboard at the beach so Kimbie was going to get some pictures of him riding the waves. She is still not able to send pictures from her phone from where she is.

Kimbie said that she and Tara have been eating a lot of avocado tacos. They bought some avocados, tortillas and salsa and are cutting up the avocados as needed. A tasty, good-for-you food that requires no refrigeration.

After time at the beach, they'll drive on to the north side of the island, where they'll be staying at Hanalei Inn, which Mr. Schwarz says is the nicest place of the whole trip. Tomorrow Kimbie does the zip line, followed by fireworks in the evening on the beach, then on Monday the 17.5 mile sea kayak Na Pali Coast Adventure.
