Basic training

After starting off in a Waikiki high rise hotel and then moving to an exclusive $40K/year prep school dorm, the $14/night military bunkhouse at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was a real change. Because the bed sheets were "gross", Kimbie slept in the sleeping bag liner that she had brought, and really liked it. Said it was a nice comfortable cocoon. She promised to send a picture of the place later. Over the next few days they'll be doing so much hiking that she'll probably sleep good even though the accommodations are less than stellar. There's a 2+ hour hike this afternoon and then they go into town (Hilo) for dinner. Tomorrow there are a couple of shorter hikes in the morning, followed by a 4+ hour hike in the late afternoon and evening.
