Kimbie's friend Ellen, whose two older sisters had been on earlier Texas Hawaii trips, told her that the HPA where they're now staying is the coldest place they stay. So Kimbie wore her sweatpants and sweatshirt to bed last night and was glad she did because it was "freezing." The cafeteria food this morning at breakfast was better than the lunch and dinner yesterday. She had a bagel and fruit. Then they made peanut butter sandwiches and packed them with chips and granola bars for their sack lunch today. They hiked today down the Pololu Valley to this black sand beach. Tomorrow about a half dozen of the group are going scuba diving. For everyone else (including Kimbie) it's mostly a beach day, followed by a sunset cookout at the beach.
