The early morning flight to Hilo arrived ahead of schedule at 6:32 am Hawaii time, where they were greeted with leis. They claimed their luggage, put it on the truck, and were going to eat pancakes at Ken's House of Pancakes to celebrate King Kamehameha Day. They will spend the morning hiking at Akaka Falls State Park, Laupahoehoe Point Park and Waipio Valley Lookout -- three 30-minute hikes after being up since 3 am. At about 2 this afternoon they get to the Hawaii Preparatory Academy, which will be their home for the next five nights. Judging from the picture and the ambitious schedule, they'll sleep good tonight. UPDATE: Just heard from Kimbie that she had a banana macadamia nut waffle with whipped cream. Now they're on the way to the first hike & it's raining.
